A formal launch event was held on Friday 12 April at Delhi's Taj Palace Hotel which was widely attended by prominent journalists and media personalities, government representatives and bureaucrats, Members of Parliament and foreign diplomats.
It also marked the start of Collective Newsroom's relationship with BBC News, its first client.
Rupa Jha, the chief executive, in her opening remarks at the launch, said Collective Newsroom is a story of resilience and self-belief.
CEO Rupa Jha was later joined on stage by Jonathan Munro, Deputy CEO, of BBC News.

The six Indian languages are BBC News Hindi, BBC News Gujarati, BBC News Marathi, BBC News Punjabi, BBC News Tamil and BBC News Telugu.
The evening of celebration and inspiration continued with rich musical performances by artists Tritha Sinha and Martin Dubois around the theme of the five elements - Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Space – represented with the intersection of unique instruments such as the kora (African Harp), Hand-Pan (or Hang), singing bowls, flutes, and other percussions.
