Balram Veliath is the Director of Quality, Risk and Assurance at the BBC, with executive responsibility for enterprise risk, internal audit, safety and security, data protection, and independent assurance over the organisation's most critical activities and investments.
He has held senior leadership roles at the Royal Bank of Scotland and ABN AMRO, where he led risk and assurance functions across large-scale operational, technology, and central portfolios. Earlier in his career, Balram spent 12 years at KPMG, including serving as a Partner with responsibility for complex audits across multiple sectors.
A Chartered Accountant, Balram brings deep experience in board-level risk governance, supporting organisations to understand their risk appetite and capacity, strengthen assurance and control frameworks, and enhance board oversight of organisational culture, diversity, and inclusion.
