Dr. Saroj Singh

Dr. Saroj Singh has over two decades of experience working for both TV and Digital media. Before joining Collective Newsroom, Saroj worked as an Assistant Editor, in Asia for BBC World Service, taking care of Newsgathering and Deployment responsibilities across 16 Asian languages. She specialises in political reporting, with a keen interest in shaping and presenting news stories in different formats that impact and resonate with a diverse global audience. 

She has covered several international and national news events including the Climate Conference of Parties (Paris 2016), the Holey Artisan cafe attack in Dhaka ( 2016), Nepal earthquake (2015), Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo, Norway, awarded to Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzai (2014), Anti-Corruption Movement in India led by Anna Hazare (2011) and five Lok Sabha Elections in India (2003-2024).

Prior to joining BBC, Saroj was Editor, Delhi at India’s leading Television News Channel ABP NEWS, formerly known as Star News. She holds a PhD in Journalism and Mass Communication,  her topic was ‘Career growth and upward mobility of women journalists in private news television’. She takes pride in mentoring and coaching budding young journalists.
