Thangavel Appachi started his journalism career with print media. He has knowledge of handling both editorial desk and field reporting with leading Tamil publications Dinamalar and Dinamani. He covered the Indian Parliament for several years since 2000. He also used to write weekly political columns on regional and national politics.

He has regularly covered prime ministerial visits during bilateral visits to foreign nations and international events like the United Nations General Assembly for Dinamani and The New Indian Express.

He started working as a radio journalist at BBC Tamil in 2007 and has continued to help shape the formidable Indian language service to TV and digital, bringing in large Tamil audiences from India and the world.
